Ever wonder what it would be like to be able to gain access to all of your media at any time, no matter where you were? Some people have wished for this ability for over a decade now. This has been the wish for many people ever since the first book was written. Sadly, most people don’t have the ability to take all of their physical books, audio programs, and videos with them at all times. Big and portable data drives have given people the ability to take lots of data around with them, but its still a hassle. Not only this, but the less expensive media becomes, the more of it people have to store.
Nevertheless, there is a way that you can still access all of your files without having to carry them around with you all of the time. Cloud computing enables people to do this. This concept is not new and has been used by businesses for quite some time now. Amazon has been running a very large cloud service for quite some time now.
Unfortunately, Amazon hasn’t really made their cloud popular with consumers. Their system doesn’t come with any instructions, and one has to use other tools to upload items to it. This is different from the books you buy from Amazon. Amazon makes these files easy to access on your media cloud, but they don’t let you upload things to this version of the cloud. Also, you’ll find that the pricing structure for Amazon’s S3 is difficult to understand.
Luckily, Apple is now coming out with their own cloud. By this point, we all know how great Apple is at making complex technologies easy for anybody to use and understand. The Use a Mac News on this can be found at the useamac.com blog. Be warned however, this technology will probably be a closed system that will only allow you to put products bought from the Apple store into it.
Apple tends to make everything a closed loop system so that you have to buy everything from them. This helps keep you out of the hand of their competitors, but can make using these products annoying at times. You’ll find that this is just another get a Mac . The sooner you switch, the less you’ll have to worry about not being able to access on your personal Apple cloud.
Will there be a fee to use this service?
I think the answer to this question will depend on what they allow you to store on the cloud. If you’re only storing Apple products, I can imagine that they can provide this service for free. However, if you’re uploading other data to the cloud, you’ll most certainly have to pay a data storage fee. Servers use up a lot of energy and can be costly to run. It just wouldn’t make sense for any company to offer up free data storage on anything and everything.
If you’re interested in storing data on a cloud and you’re not afraid to learn new things, you might want to check out cloud computing now. Otherwise, just wait for Apple to make the process simple and painless for you.
