CrunchUp Live: The Real-Time Moment
Today, at our Real-Time Stream CrunchUp conference Erick Schonfeld is sitting down with Jack Dorsey, co-founder of Twitter; Chris Cox of Facebook; and Bret Taylor, co-founder of FriendFeed.
Erick: Jack, tell us why you decided to present the info that’s coming through Twitter as a stream of information and why is it resonating?
JD: It’s the way I’ve always been visualizing information. A stream, imagine a 911 calls a typical center gets, and those calls flowing into a stream that bubbles up makes sense. We developed it over many iterations.
ES: Facebook always had a stream element, but with the latest re-design this has been emphasized in a big way. How’s that going? Read the rest of this entry »
Contrary to Tweets, Jeff Goldblum Lives
Quickly after rumors started spreading last week that actor Jeff Goldblum had died, it became apparent that the story was a hoax. Fellow actor Kevin Spacey even publicly confirmed that Goldblum was alive and well.

Poke.ly Brings Facebook Pokes to Twitter
Some folks will love this, while others will probably think it’s a sign of the impending Twitter apocalypse. Facebook-style pokes have arrived on Twitter, by way of a new service called Poke.ly. Similar to the sheep throwing, virtual drink buying chaos that are Facebook pokes and superpokes, Poke.ly lets you direct any of hundreds of actions at other Twitter users.
To “poke” another user, all you need to do is login to Poke.ly (using Twitter OAuth) and select what type of poke you’d like to initiate – from the mundane like “play tennis with” to the more risqué like “do body shots with” (there are far worse) – and who you’d like to send it to.
